I'm getting a validation error when entering foreign dividends.

I'm getting a validation error when entering foreign dividends from my 1099-DIV. I've correctly entered Box 1a ($3,662.00), Box 1b ($3,056.83), and Box 7 ($229.81), but when I try to enter $1,866.92 in foreign dividends received, TurboTax shows an error comparing it to "$0.00" instead of my actual Box 1a amount. The foreign dividends screen doesn't seem linked to my 1099-DIV entry even though I'm following the standard workflow. The $1,866.92 represents dividends from 7 countries, and should validate since it's less than the total $3,662.00.

I'm getting a validation error when entering foreign dividends.

The validation error you are experiencing when entering foreign dividends in TurboTax Online suggests the foreign dividends amount isn't correctly linked to the 1099-DIV form amounts you entered. TurboTax expects the foreign dividends amount to align with the foreign dividend details reported on your 1099-DIV.

To resolve this issue:
1. Review your 1099-DIV entry in the Investment Income section to ensure all foreign dividend information, including the foreign country and amount, is properly entered.
2. On the Foreign Dividends screen, avoid entering an amount that conflicts with or duplicates your 1099-DIV information.
3. If your foreign dividends come from multiple countries, enter each country and amount separately as prompted in the foreign dividends section.
4. Ensure Box 6 (Foreign Tax Paid) is also entered if applicable, as this links the foreign dividends correctly.

These steps help TurboTax link your foreign dividends correctly to the 1099-DIV form and prevent validation errors.
