I donated to charity on 12/31/2020. It was charged to my card in 2021. The charity included it on 2020 tax forms. I did not claim it for 2020. Can I claim it for 2021?

Is the tax year to which this donation applies based on the year in which I clicked the button on a website, the year that the organization put on their paperwork, or the year that the money was taken from my account?  Do I have flexibility to choose?

No, you cannot include it in 2021. The deduction is only valid for tax year 2020.

You can amend up to the last three tax years to add contributions you made in previous years, but were missed when you filed. Learn more about amending your tax return here.
