I have been reading most people's questions and it's mainly about to and from work. My job as a photographer at the time had me traveling all over town and I had to use my bus and uber rides to get me around. Do those rides count as a deductible? I said yes and it wants me to say what car it is, but I didn't see an option for the bus or uber and I'm wondering if my bus passes and uber receipts will be good enough.
Thanks@

From home to first location, and last location back home are considered non deductible commuting expenses.
However, all traveling "in between" is deductible.
Yes, your bus fare and Uber receipts used exclusively for business travel are good enough.
Your traveling expenses are an employee business expense.
To deduct employee business expenses, you must have enough itemized deductions (ie. Medical, mortgage interest, property taxes, charitable giving, ect) to exceed your Standard Deduction. If you itemize, your deduction is limited to the extent that it exceeds 2% of your Adjusted Gross Income.
So, you may not derive a tax benefit for this deduction.
To report traveling expenses in TurboTax:
Type in 2106 in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass
Click the jump to 2106 link in the search results.
Follow the prompts and onscreen instructions
Im employed as a Home Care Aide to my elderly father. As he lives in a different (lower class) neighborhood with almost nothing he needs locally, Im required to purchase a bus pass. I use the pass to not only go to and from work, but to travel to get whatever provisions, food, medicine, and supplies that he requires. Getting these things without a buspass would be impossible as the cost would consume most of my paycheck. Im also required to maintain an active cell phone for the app used to calculate my total hours worked. Are these things deductible?
