I just completed my taxes (downloaded version) using the step-by-step method and encountered 3 issues:
1) I could not enter my state property tax paid. TT just would not let me enter anything. note I don't have a mortgage so the taxes are not part of my mortgage company statement
2) under medical expenses I could not enter a number for medical equipment and supplies
3) I was not given the option to carry my refund over to the next year.
All 3 issues I worked around by switching to the forms method. But seems something that can easily be resolved in the next update.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
For the first two issues...try double-clicking on the field that won't let you enter a $$ amount. There is likely a Supporting Details (SD) Worksheet attached to that field, that you used last year.
For #3, you really need to wait until you are completely done with entering every scrap of information.....adn completely sure you have nothing else to do. Once that is done, you visit the "Other Tax Situations" tab in the Federal section. Scroll down the page and there is a menu selection to "Apply refund to next year".
(I don't use it because if the IRS changes your refund, for any reason...you have to be sure to correct it on next year's forms. I just pay quarterly estimated taxes separately.....but that's just me)
I could not duplicate your issue. I was able to enter these items in step-by-step mode in Deluxe, Premier and Home and Business desktop versions.
I am running what turbotax calls individual 2022. And I just reproduced the first 2 issues.
