Can we get an update on this? I’m having the same issue. When will the form be ready?
The accepted solution may not work to properly do the calculation.
Scenario: You get two 1098s for Two Mortgages that you picked up in 2021.
Mortgage 1 - Primary Home
Mortgage 2 - Second Home (Still deductible)
If you combine both of them into one 1098, what about Mortgage Acquisition Dates, for the worksheet to calculate properly, and since total Loan is over 750K..
I spent two hours today on the phone with an agent / escalated to another supervisor.
The agent I spoke to confirmed that she escalated with "TIER 2 SUPPORT" and confirmed that there is an investigation in place to fix this issue, and that I will receive an email when they fix it.
Please escalate and ask Turbo Tax to fix this.
I have the same error as everyone else... and it is February 18, so the message that this will be available after Feb. 17 doesn't seem to be correct. What is the update on when this form will be able to go through?
I combined three different 1098s on a single primary residence loan that was refinanced (don't ask me why three institutions have to be involved in one refinance in one year, it's ridiculous). This thread says that if you report a single combined 1098 for a refinanced primary loan and a HELOC 1098, it should go through even without this unavailable form. But it is still stuck, not able to file. Please help!
still waiting on this update. any chance it will get updated soon? "after" 17th Feb is a bull**bleep** timeline if you ask me. give us a date and stick to it. I'm sick of checking every day
New voice chiming in with the same issue. I have a small HELOC and a loan, both which are for my primary home and mortgage. It's very disappointing they gave us a date. When I called support, they didn't know of the issue and had zero ETA for me. I wouldn't mind if it was even 1 month from now, as long as I KNEW I had a solution coming.
This is not a fix. This is a workaround that as other users have correctly pointed out reduces the tax return amount and forces taxpayers to misrepresent mortgage balances to the IRS.
Today is February 19th and the issue persists. I paid Turbotax three weeks ago when I began my returns and have still not been able to file, even though I've paid for the service.
What is the latest official guidance from Turbotax on what to do about this issue? Will the worksheet be resolved in the next few days? Or does this company continue to recommend that its customers misrepresent their financial situation to the IRS?
Does anyone know if this will eventually be fixed or the only option is to go to a different company. Anyone? Was this the same last year? I don't mind waiting, but if this will NEVER be fixed, it's not worth sitting here until April 15th with no options. I will NOT combine my forms and cheat the system. I want all 6 of my 1098's accurately represented.
Same issue here. This is very disappointing. Long time user of TT but now I need to go elsewhere......
Thanks for the work around by adding all the mortgage interest from my other 1098 onto one form, however I noticed that my refund is about $1k less than when I put in the forms separately. I might just wait it out for TT to get their act together.
So quick update. I redid everything in TaxAct and it had no problems at all. Ready to file, no errors. So proof that the error is definitely on TT, not the IRS.
Tried to get a refund from TT and they denied it because the satisfaction guarantee is only for the cd/download. Absolute BS. Will be attempting to call when I have hours to sit on the phone. I know I made a huge assumption expecting paying to fix the error but good lord.
Best solution is getting rid of Turbo tax and start using H&R Block, so far they haven't had as much issues with programing as Turbo Tax. This year is a bad bad bad bad bad year for Turbo tax. A waste of time and money.. Thank you Turbo tax for making my Tax season a wonderful experience.
and then get rejected by the IRS later..
I wonder if this is being looked at? Since the original user who sent this has marked it solved.
I'm going to start a new thread, link this thread in it, and also let's try to place all our "Case ID's or Numbers" in that thread.
I have re-opened this issue with a little bit more clarity. Since it is closed here.
Let's post over there, and let's all please ask / request Turbo Tax Tier 2 support to at the very least give us an ETA, and acknowledge this issue.
