Ive been rejected twice and have been helped now twice for agents for TT. I went under federal taxes to charitable contributions and put the cash amount I donated and the charity i donated too. If you dont put a cash donation here, then on the next screen it asks you if you donated cash due to cares act changes. I guess if you put a cash amount here instead of not the charitable contributions section your return will be rejected. They need to get rid of that question period.
FINALLY.
3rd times a charm. I was rejected 3x already.
did NOT work:
- zeroing out contributions
- leaving as is
DID work:
I copied what another user said since I also only took the standard deduction:
1. Went to my State Return
2. wages, credits/adjustments
3. page will open up to 3 columns where you
can enter the item, and whether it's an
addition or subtraction to your wages. I
labeled the item "Standard Deduction -
Charitable CA" and put in the $300 as a
subtraction.
stare return finally accepted

@Reymarinaxo That $300 was from your 1040 line12b?
@Reymarinaxo How long after you filed it this way did you get accepted? I did exactly this this morning after also being rejected 3 times prior, and it's still pending.
@ask123 I did mine this morning also, just barely got notice right now.
@Jetfan no my line 12b for me said 500 but I didn’t claim anything so I’m not sure why that even populated. I might have to amend since they don’t match but I’ll deal with that if it comes to that.
@Reymarinaxo I can't remember if I saw this listed elsewhere, but is there a reason why people are putting $300 down in that column?
The method Oxf911 states in Page 11 worked for me. Thank you so much. My CA return was rejected four times and I used your method to enter my charitable donations today. Finally it was accepted! Didn't have to change anything in Federal. My Federal was accepted earlier and I didn't want to change anything there. I would recommend trying this method!
Me too. Just got accepted by CA.
@Nishi1 Did you put $300 on your State form like others. Or did you put your own number?
Jetfan, I used my own number. Same number I put for Federal. It was less than 300.
@JetfanIt should match whatever is on your 1040 line 12b (which should be the amount you donated up to $300 for single filers).
I also got my state taxes rejected only the federal accepted but I don’t see where I could change the charitable donations to my state anywhere. Were you guys able to resolve this how did you fix it?
Yes, because even if you use the standard deduction you can put $300.00 Person on your federal without a receipt and get it as a return but it doesn’t effect your state tax but it is flagging it on your state so if your federal was excepted and state rejected your federal is already done so you can change your federal without messing it up then refile your state and it will work
