Charitable Contribution Error on California CA(540) and 540

So to fix the issue you refile state only and 0'd out the charitable donations? I just refiled and did the same before seeing this thread, so I'm curious is mine will be fix. Federal was accepted and I really don't want to go through the hassle of redoing that one also.

Honestly, I don't know what the correct answer is. It appears once talking to support that TurboTax will update the software/walk customers through the solution on or after 2/17. But my Fed was already accepted and then today CA accepted my re-file. My federal status was unchanged, and I only got a confirmation that my State Return was filed.

Makes sense. This is frustrating but I appreciate your response, this thread was very helpful. I'll just wait and see if they accept my newly filed state one and if not wait until tomorrow. I had essentially gone through and hit 0 for it and just refiled. I didn't know it was a common issue until googling it. Thanks again.

No problem! I figured if it was a glaring issue, they would address it. I'm sure if I re-file a 2nd time and include the Charitable Contributions, it would be fairly easy. So that's another option. Unfortunately, I dread taxes and am just taking the path of least resistance.

Same thing here.  Fed accepted on 2/11/22 and Ca rejected today 2/16/22.  Spent two frustrating hours on the phone this morning and finally gave up.  I am glad that I found this thread.  "t's not me, it's TurboTax.  I wish the chat rep had been informed of the problem.

Hi! I am getting the same error on my CA taxes! Would you recommend I resubmit without making any changes to it? My federal were accepted so Im confused as to why my CA were not. Thanks in advance!

I re did my state ones and zeroed out the charitable contributions  and then re submitted, haven’t heard back yet if it was approved or not but it does seem like its a system error that should be resolved again. So you can always try to see what happens! I’ll update when I find out if mine was approved the second time.

TurboTax pushed out an update for CA today. I walked-through the state refund again as instructed - but nothing about Charitable Contributions came up so it's using what's on the fed return - and then e-filed again as they said to do. I'm hoping the issue was with "how" they submitted the form to CA and the fix corrected that. We shall see in 24-48 hours. lol. If that doesn't work - I guess I'll need to zero out charitable contributions like others have done.

I noticed the same thing just now! Nothing about charitable contributions came up and it showed my CA taxes were ready to be filed. I'll resubmit and see what happens! Thank you for all your help!

Re-filed this morning making no changes to my return, and state was accepted.

Same with me! Re-filed this morning and CA State Tax Return was accepted in hours! Looks like some software bug on TurboTax's side.

I followed the prompts and refiled this morning and my CA return was rejected within an hour. I just tried to refile from my phone. This is so incredibly frustrating.

Rejected again! I deleted my CA info and re-did and re-submitted. Let's see what happens...super annoying.

Filed for the first time today and received a similar error. Hoping mine gets resolved soon
