I started using the FREE version of Turbo Tax online in 2021 for Tax Year 2020, but it DID NOT allow CAPITAL LOSS CARRYOVER – So I couldn’t claim the $3,000 annual deduction. How do I amend these returns when there's no copy of my tax return or any workups on my profile?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Start the 2023 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.
On the Tax Home webpage -
Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year 2020 and Click on Amend (change) 2020 return
If you cannot access your prior online account, then use the Account Recovery procedure.

DoninGA - Thanks but I've done that process and tried several routes to get access to the old returns. My problem is - there is no AMEND link on that page because there is no record of the return on file - even though I've used TT for over a decade, when I was purchasing the Home and Business Edition. But I retired and I used the Free Online Version for 2020 + 2021 + 2022. All my past returns are fully functional links, but these three years are blank - no record - like I never existed.
Sorry, but there is no more we can do to assist you in this matter. Only TurboTax support has the capabilities to help you find a missing account, that is why I posted that support FAQ.
I just went to the Docs page again and it has a * download your pdf * link, upper right - but the main page has bold type - " Let's start uploading your 2020 documents! " - - and no other links, like on my older returns that used Home and Business Edition, which do have AMEND links on the page.
