if I understand your question correctly, you are unable to claim your $300 standard deduction? If so, please look over these steps.
If you entered your charitable donations by going to federal> deductions and credits>charitable donations, delete it from this section. This is not the way to claim the $300 charitable donation. instead, report it in the following manner after deleting the entry from charitable donations in the deductions and credit section.
We are both over 65 and i read that we can claim $1300 in charitable deduction on Line 10b, but the system will only bring over $300 to that line. How do i fix that?
The $1300 is the additional standard deduction and it is reported on form 1040 line 12. People who are 65 and over or blind can claim an additional standard deduction of $1,300.
The $300 charitable donation on line 10b is correct. The special new provision allows people to deduct up to $300 in donations to qualifying charities this year. irs.gov
