Tax Year Prior to 2020: 1095-A

@thompsonjames19

You may have accidentally indicated that you had health insurance from the Marketplace, and once TurboTax knows this, it will make sure you don't file your return without entering the 1095-A (this is for your own good).

Two ways to try to fix this:

First, do a Search (upper right) for 1095-a and click on the jump-to link (Mac users have to find 1095-A in the Topics List). NOTE: type in 1095-a and then hit enter - don't click on any of the suggested search items.

This should bring you to the screen where TurboTax asks if you had Marketplace insurance, answer NO and continue.

If that doesn't work, then do the following:

*** Desktop***

1. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the 1095-A. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

1. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

2. delete form(s) 1095-A.

Let us know if this does not work.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: 1095-A

I made a mistake and said I did have a 1095-A when in reality I received a 1095-B. I have now deleted that 1095-A and answered No to the question if I received the form. However, when I go back in and see if my No answer in maintained the TT always changes it to yes and I continually change it back. How do I prevent the system from changing my answer? The next screen is troubling in that it indicates my refund will be delayed because I don't have the 1095-A information to enter.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: 1095-A

Use the Chrome browser and clear browser data for all time before signing into TurboTax.

Then follow these steps:

  • Federal
  • Deductions and Credits
  • Medical
  • Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)
  • If your form comes up, then delete it

Then make sure it is deleted

  • Tax Tools
  • Tools
  • Delete a Form
  • Look for Form 1095-A - Insurance Exchange  and delete it if there

There is no payback for premium tax credit for 2020.

It sounds like you indicated you had a Form 1095-A and entered information for that.  However, you actually received a Form 1095-B instead of Form 1095-A.

If that is correct, you will simply need to delete your input under the 1095-A reporting for health insurance obtained through the Marketplace so you can proceed with your tax return.

To do this, log back into TurboTax.

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Scroll down to All Tax Breaks
  3. Select Medical
  4. Select Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)
  5. On the next screen, you will see Did you receive Form 1095-A for your health insurance plan?  Select No to remove the 1095-A input on your tax return.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: 1095-A

We are using turbo tax home and business and ready to file.  The program keeps asking for a 1095-5 amount and it is 0. As a federal employee they pay my Health insurance and I receive 1095-B form. This crazy loop I am in will not let me file wit out an amount in the box for 1095-A. I enter 0  and it figures it again and come back "You can't put zero either delete or enter the amount. I tis a Loop driving me crazy. I am done except this one catch...Help us out!!!

No you don't enter a 1095-B or 1095-C.  You do not enter 0.  See the post above yours for how to delete the 1095-A entry you started.

I had the same problem and I was asked to fill in monthly payments for 1095-a when trying to check out

Here's what happened, I had inadvertently indicated that I had a 1095-a, which I don't have, by checking the wrong box when asked if I have a 1095-a.

Do these steps to get that box unchecked.

1 go back to heading tab federal taxes,

2 under deductions and credits,

3 scroll down to under medical heading to Affordable care act (1095-A) hit update,

4 check the box - "no i didn't receive a 1095-a" hit continue

5 hold ctrl and tap letter s to save

@parkaetax  Did you get a 1095-A form?  If not then say no and continue.

I accidentally hit yes instead of no when asked if I have Health Coverage Form 1095-A.  I don't have it. I have 1095-B. Is there some way to go back and change my answer?
