Property tax

Hi,

I uploaded my 1098 form to turbotax, and when it asked me to doublecheck that all the info matched, everything did except for the property/real estate taxes. For some reason, turbotax plugged in my escrow amount as opposed to the amount disbursed (eal estate taxes). Should I change the amount to the amount that appears on my statement? (there's a sizeable difference) I've never had a situation where turbotax differed before.

Always check the data when you import it.   You caught an important error and need to fix it by keying in the correction by hand.

Yes, change amount on the TurboTax form to the actual amount of property taxes paid as shown on your Form 1098.
