When I do a check on my state return I it tells me that I entered to large an amount on line H. I have gone over and over my files and I have the correct number in there but when I look at line M it tells me I entered a figure for paying a balance for 2018 in 2019. I received a refund in 2018 and did not pay a 2018 balance in 2019.
How do I correct this.

Line H is for federal estimated tax payments made in 2019 and would be entered in the federal program > Deductions and Credits > taxes paid. Please review the federal section for taxes paid.
Line M is for the balance due on federal return in 2018 and is entered in the state program where it asks for Federal Income Tax Paid.
If you can't find one or both of these issues, I am going to suggest you delete the Montana form and possibly the entire state and begin again. There was a Montana update and maybe your program picked something up before the update. To get rid of Stuck information:
I started over but now it is not showing the total estimated federal tax payments correctly.
What do I do now. Start over again? UGG!!
Going to get back to this tomorrow. Driving me crazy.
The federal payments come from the federal section and should not have been affected by deleting the state. Something odd is going on. I hate to say this, but try deleting it again. Then do an update. You may want to contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you.
