TurboTax doesn't let me qualify for Other Dependent tax credit. I have two adult sons that do qualify. What am I doing wrong on Turbo Tax?

You can claim a child, relative, friend, fiancé(e), and so on as a dependent on your 2023 taxes as long as they meet the following requirements:
Qualifying child:
Qualifying relative:
When you add someone as a dependent, we'll ask a series of questions to make sure you can claim them. There may be other tax benefits you can get when you claim a dependent.
The second one applies to my case. How do I get it to work on Turbo Tax?
All you need to do is in the personal info section click add a dependent and then enter their information. Make sure you put in their SSN and all their info. The answers to the questions will determine whether or not you can claim the credit. If they are not your children or parents they MUST live with you for the ENTIRE year. So if they did not, you cannot get the credit for them.
I have done all that, and did it last year. Last year with the same two sons, there was a tax credit of $613. Same info this year, and why was it $500 for each last year?
Sorry, I meant, why wasn't it $500 for each last year?
I will try to delete one of the sons info and re ad the info again. Will see if that works. What else can I do?
The Other Dependent Credit is a nonrefundable credit. So if your credit was $613 it sounds like that is how much your tax liability was. A nonrefundable credit means it will reduce your tax liability to $0 but any excess is lost and does not result in a refund of money you didn't pay it.
Thank You. That was helpful. Nice work.
I guess because I won't owe any taxes, I don't qualify.
