It was my understanding that the child tax credit doubled from last year. My amount went down almost $2000. One of my 11 kids turned 17 but shouldn't it still be more?

No the child tax credit for 2017 is still $1000. When you file your 2018 tax return next year in 2019, the CTC will be $2000.
