My spouse and child are on my employer insurance but I pay their premiums. Are those payments deductible?

How do you pay the premiums? Do you pay with out of pocket funds? Or are the premiums paid pre-tax so you are not taxed on the funds used for the premium payment?

Since the payments are pre-tax they are not deductible on a tax return.
