Hi,
I moved from the west coat to the east coast in order to be closer to my employer's clients but I am still part of the California office as I was before. However, I work from home now as there is no office at the new place. The company does have another office which is a few hundred miles. Would I be eligible for moving expenses?
Thanks,
Rajesh

Per the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond, moving expenses are not deductible on a federal return except for certain active duty members of the military.
There are several states that allow a deduction for moving expenses on the state return: AZ, AR, CA, HI, IA, MA, MN, NJ, NY, PA and VA You can enter your moving expenses in the federal software and the information will flow to your state return.
Thanks.
If CA allows then I believe it would be for moving to CA and not out of CA . Is that right?
