The new law made the stimulus check retroactive with a recovery rebate credit. If a couple (ssn+itin) has a child with itin, the online system is calculating $1,200 for one parent and $500 for the child. However, IRS said that child with itin is not eligible. Is there a way to fix the online system? Or it is correct? Tks

I meant to say is that the software doesn’t know if a dependent has ssn or itin, therefore is calculating as if all have ssn. You could have a question in the software related to this matter. Tks
I created a tax return in TurboTax Online Basic. The dependent was a resident of Canada or Mexico and had an ITIN.
In the example that I created, the taxpayer did not get credit for a stimulus payment for the dependent with an ITIN.
In your example, did you input the dependent information in a different way?
COVID Tax Center: Second Stimulus
Who is eligible to receive a second stimulus check?
However, this new law allows households with different immigration and citizenship statuses to be eligible to receive $600 per individual and $600 per child with Social Security numbers.
Hi James,
I just tried, and it worked. I received a retroactive credit of $1,200, which is I assume is correct. And at this time I didn’t see the dependents which is correct as well. I guess the first time was a preview and when I run to review it picked the itin. Sorry to bother but I had to ask.
thank you.
