Tax Year Prior to 2020: Medical mileage

The form for medical mileage won't populate and it won't let me proceed past the screen.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: Medical mileage

I posted this and it seemed to work correctly.

I went through a series of questions.

  1. Medical Expenses
  2. I came to Tell us about anything spent for medical Travel
  3. I went down to Miles driven to get medical care
  4. Put in a whole number.
    1. No dollar sign
    2. No comma
    3. No period

I then went to Schedule A

  • Line 9 (a) showed the exact number I had entered
  • Line 9 (b) showed that number multiplied by 20 cents a mile

This is the correct calculation.

I have the same issue, Medical mileage deduction isn't working for me.  The screen will not accept any inputs, If I double Click the box, I do get an itemization screen.  However, this data doesn't transfer either.  I cannot get past this screen at all.  HELP

Try this.  Click to another section in your return or even sign out of your TurboTax account and back in.  Then go back to "Deductions & Credits".  Edit your medical expenses and work through the interview again.

I had the same problem, couldn't get it to accept the supporting details result. Went back to Personal Income heading, then back to Deductions and Credits and worked my way back to the Mileage and there was the number entered all nice and right. Thanks.

Another way to get there is to search for itemized deductions in the search box. Don't forget that you only enter medical miles and not an amount in the box. Sometimes, the converted mileage rate in dollars is entered erroneously. That wouldn't work.
