Yes, you may be able to claim COVID 19 as a natural disaster loss on your 2020 returns according to this State of Ca link. Also refer to this State of CA article regarding COVID related issues in the State of Ca.

Thanks! I don't see COVID 19 in the list of disasters. Its mostly wildfires.

Is COVID 19 declared a natural disaster for California for tax year 2020? Can we claim benefit in tax returns for California?

Yes, the list does contain does mostly include wildfires that were Federally Declared Disasters.

 

 However, you can request an appointment by email with a Field Office Public Counter in certain California counties for more specific help with California Covid 19 issues.

 

Send an email to FTBFieldOfficeAppointments@ftb.ca.gov and include the following:

  • The location of the Field Office in the subject line of your email
  • Your name and phone number
  • Reason for appointment

Contact the field office using the phone numbers listed on the Office Locations page.
