Ok this RMD stuff is really stressing me out. My Dad passed away at the end of October 2024 he was 76. He had one traditional IRA that he decided to split between his surviving spouse and 4 kids. Mom rolled hers over and all 4 kids took a total distribution payout (yes I accounted for federal and state taxes on this money, this was all taken care of before Dec 31 2024). I checked and he had already taken his RMD for 2024 earlier in the year. Now when entering this information Turbo Tax asks how much of this amount was RMD I would answer none of this withdrawal was RMD since he already took it out for the 2024 year correct? When answering that way TT wants to know if I missed a RMD from any retirement accounts and to select any that apply IRA,403B,other qualified retirement plans, or none of these plans failed to withdraw the RMD (I am 40 and do not have any RMD currently), i would assume my answer is none of these plans failed to withdraw the RMD. However during the Final Federal Review TT then says I need to correct an error. Partial RMD amount should have an amount if the entire distribution does not apply to the RMD. If none applies to the RMD enter 0. Again would I not enter 0 or am I missing something?
Going back to the question how much of the distribution was an RMD can I answer the entire distribution was an RMD since I took a total distribution of my share, if so then TT says could you tell us what the RMD was for your account in 2024. Would I be correct to answer $0 as I currently have no RMD from my own accounts? Like the previous scenario answering that way TT wants to know if I missed a RMD from any retirement accounts and to select any that apply IRA,403B,other qualified retirement plans, or none of these plans failed to withdraw the RMD, again i would assume like the previous scenario my answer is none of these plans failed to withdraw the RMD. Any insight is appreciated, not sure why this seems so difficult or if I 'am just making it seem that way so I have it correct.

Because your dad completed his RMD earlier in 2024, none of the beneficiaries had a 2024 RMD with respect to the amounts inherited from your dad. When entering the Form 1099-R that reports the portion that you received, indicate that no RMD was required.
Regarding the question that askes how much of this distribution was RMD, it doesn't matter what you enter because this particular question is asked only to determine the amount that is eligible for rollover. Because TurboTax separately treats a distribution paid to a non-spouse beneficiary as ineligible for rollover, under these circumstances TurboTax does not actually use the answer to the question that asks how much was RMD.
