Income Earned by a Non Resident from his US based single member LLC

If a non resident earned income from his US based single member LLC and he didn't came in US in 2024 but get transfer his money from US to other country he is going to file his federal return but does he needs to file his state return of NJ? while using sprintax platform to file 1040-NR there is question as below determining either he needs to file for state or not, if I select "yes" for below question I need to file state return if select "No" then I don't need to. So based on my above explanation what is the right answer of below question?. TIA

Income Earned by a Non Resident from his US based single member LLC

Yes. if you have a LLC in the State of NJ, you may need to file a NJ 1040 NR return if the income from the LLC was more than the filing threshold for the state. For the state of NJ, the filing threshold is $10,000 if you file single or $20,000 if you file Married Filing jointly. As you already mentioned, you would need to file this return with Sprint Tax.

Yeah I mentioned I am going to file 1040-NR for Federal but I am very confused that if I need to file his NJ state return based on his situation. So he is married but filing separately. Should I report same income amount on state return as I reported on federal return? And yes his LLC is registered with state of NJ. @DaveF1006

Yes, you will report the same income amount that is reported on his federal return. If he files Married filing Separately, the income threshold for filing a NJ return is $10,000.
