Did you have Income earned from non-US employment?
YES OR NO

Yes. if you have a LLC in the State of NJ, you may need to file a NJ 1040 NR return if the income from the LLC was more than the filing threshold for the state. For the state of NJ, the filing threshold is $10,000 if you file single or $20,000 if you file Married Filing jointly. As you already mentioned, you would need to file this return with Sprint Tax.
NJ Non-Resident Filing Requirement
Yeah I mentioned I am going to file 1040-NR for Federal but I am very confused that if I need to file his NJ state return based on his situation. So he is married but filing separately. Should I report same income amount on state return as I reported on federal return? And yes his LLC is registered with state of NJ. @DaveF1006
Yes, you will report the same income amount that is reported on his federal return. If he files Married filing Separately, the income threshold for filing a NJ return is $10,000.
