I work for a residential builder. I use my vehicle everyday to 4 different communities for Work. I use 200 miles a day on my truck. My employer does not give allowance.

Are there deductions I can take off on taxes

as an independent contractor working for the builder, you would file schedule C and may be eligible to deduct your transportation costs.   you did not provide enough info  so read publication 463 section 4

You mentioned your "employer," but you are asking from TT Self-Employer.  Do you get a W-2, or rather a 1099-NEC?

if you are a W-2 employee, the short asnwer is 'no' you can not deduct mileage on your taxes

if you are self-employed (and receive a 1099- NEC), then you can deduct SOME of the mileage.

Here is how it works:

1) you can NOT deduct mileage from your home to the first job site and from the last job site back to your home at the end of the day.

2) you CAN deduct the mileage travelled BETWEEN job sites.

So the mileage from Community 1 to Community 2 to Community 3 to COmmunity 4 can be deducted, but the mileage from Home to Community 1 and from Community 4 to Home can NOT be deducted

The rules on what mileage is allowable as a business deduction are covered in chapter 4 here, which also has an informative cartoon. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p463.pdf

If you are a W-2 employee, you can't deduct mileage on your federal tax return.  You can still list it in Turbotax and it might give you a deduction in some states that still follow the old rules.  You may also want to discuss the arrangement with your employer.   The employer can reimburse you tax-free if the miles are work-related, and can deduct it as a business expense on their tax return.  Finally, you might want to investigate your state labor laws.  It may be illegal in your state for your employer to require you to cover your own mileage as a condition of working.
