I sold some silver coins and bullion at a loss in 2016, how do I file for that?

I sold some silver coins and bullion at a loss in 2016, how do I file for that?

  1. Go to Your 2016 Income Summary

  2. Go down to Investment Income. 

  3. Click Start or Update by Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other

  4. Click + Add more sales. 

  5. Answer No to Did you get a 1099-B or a brokerage statement for these sales? 

  6. On the Choose the type of investment you sold page, you'll have a list of options to choose from. 

  7. It would most likely be a Collectible.
