I purchased a car. However, Turbo Tax is not asking me if I paid tax on a major purchase

To enter the purchase of a vehicle:

• Log into your return
• Click on Federal Taxes
  
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Scroll to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• Click on the Show more button if necessary
• Click the button beside Sales Tax
• You will be asked how you want to enter your information.  I highly recommend that you click on Easy Guide

If you use the “Easy Guide” you will work your way through the questions.  Turbo Tax will ask you to:

• Confirm where you lived, including range of dates
• What your local Sales Tax Rate was while you were living in the area
• You will be asked if you made any purchases (please see the screenshot below)
• You will be asked to enter the information about your car purchase
• You will confirm the information
• Then you will go to “Places You Lived” screen.  Click done.
•  Turbo Tax will go on to ask other questions about nontaxable income
•  Then you will be given your calculated sales tax deduction.

Turbo Tax performs a calculation based on your income, sales tax rate, major purchases, etc.
