I'm getting solar installed on my roof 12/2023. Roofing/panels will go up in Dec, but the city & utility company need to inspect in Jan. When can I claim the fed credit.

City permits were award 11/2023 and loan funds were dispersed in Dec for me to give to the solar company.

The  Solar credit is taken in the year the solar system is "placed in service" which cannot be done until it passes the inspection.
