I have 3 child dependents and 1 adult dependent, but I am only getting 4,500 on the child tax credit. Last year I got 6,500. Is there a change in the limit this year?

The child tax credit for 2022 was $2000 per child UNDER the age of 17, with a "refundable" amount of $1500 per child.  For 2023 the CTC is still $2000, with a refundable amount of $1600 per child.

If you have an adult dependent or a child older than 16, you get the $500 credit for other dependents for them.

Look at your 2023 Form 1040 to see the dependent-related credits you received

I believe one of the children has an answer wrong in the personal info section  and isn't showing on your return.

When a child turns 17, they are no longer considered a child for the credit but instead go over as another dependent like the adult.  The math is not adding up. $2,000 for two children (4000) plus $500 for 2 adults totals $5,000- IF you have no tax liability. If you have a tax liability, then all the numbers change and your caps would be as above.
