According to what reliable source ? None of the tax plan takes affect until next year

That is not part of the new tax law It is a tax law that expired. You are not finding a spot to enter it in the program because you cannot enter it any more.

Just received my 1098, on the Statement "as of 12/31/17, congress had not extended the deduction for mortgage insurance premiums for 2017."
