If the amount of foreign tax is less than $300 or $600 if you are married filing jointly, then there are no additional questions that will be asked about foreign source income. If the amount of your foreign tax is more than the threshold amount, then there will be a question about foreign-sourced income and where it came from. That will generate a Form 1116.
The information shouldn't disappear from Box 7. If there's an amount listed there, then it'll be recorded on Line 1 of Schedule 3.
Thank you for that info, but because my foreign taxes are < $300 it doesn't take me to the income portion of the interview. I know for a fact that my first pass through TurboTax it did take me to a section where it asked me about the foreign source income. I'm pretty sure it was later in the interview and not part of the 1099-DIV section. I think I input "various" or something like that when I should have input "RIC". I am trying to get back there to see what I input and just cannot find it. Any other ideas?
