After you have entered your personal information, dependent(s) information, and all of your income, TurboTax will determine whether you are qualified to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). As you go through the process of completing your return, you should be prompted to answer some additional questions to be sure that you meet all of the EITC qualifications. If you qualify, the EITC will be included as part of your tax return. It is not something that can be filed on its own.
If you did not see any additional questions and want to go directly to the EITC section of your return, use the following steps:
You can also go to the Deductions & Credits > You and Your Family > Earned Income Credit (EIC) and click Start to go through this section.
Earned Income Credit—-the rules are back to the “old” rules—
Those under 25 and over 65 without children are not eligible as they were uniquely in 2021. And you cannot use your income from any earlier tax year to get the EIC for a 2022 return. There is no “lookback” for 2022. EIC for 2022 will be based on the income you earned by working in 2022.
