How do I enter info for adjustments for pre-2011 contributions if I got my HSA in 2017?

I spent some distributions on medical expenses in 2018, but because my HSA is new it won't let me enter the info

I am assuming that you are referring to the interview for the State of Wisconsin.

In the case of Wisconsin, you make entries on this screen (see 2017 screenshot below) only if you had and contributed to an HSA prior to 2011 AND were a resident of Wisconsin at that time. According to your post, this does not apply to you.
