how do i claim the EV charger tax credit of 30% up to max of $1,000?

You can enter your electric vehicle charger expense in TurboTax as follows:

 

If you are using TurboTax Desktop:

 

  1. Select the "Deductions & Credits" tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Select "  "
  3. Scroll down to "Cars and Other Things You Own".
  4. Select "Energy-Efficient Vehicle Charging Station", "Start/Revisit". 
  5. Continue with the on-screen prompts until complete. 

If you are using TurboTax Online:

 

  1. Continue your tax return
  2. In your left panel click on "Deductions & Credits"
  3. Scroll down to "Cars and Other Things You Own"
  4. Click on the down-facing caret 
  5. Scroll down to "Energy Efficient Vehicle Charging Station"
  6. Click on "Start"
  7. Continue with the on-screen prompts until complete. 

Your screen will look something like this:

 

It will look like this in TurboTax Desktop::

 

 

In TurboTax Online it will look like this:

 

 

 

This information will populate your Form 8911.
