How do i claim my gambling losses

After you fill out the W2G screen for the winnings you have to go though several other screens to get to the loss screen.

Fill out the W2 G then hit Continue
Confirm Name & Address - Continue
Then you get the W2G Summary Screen, if you don't have any more W2G to add hit DONE
Any Other Gamblings WInnings? Screen - Yes or No
THEN you get to the Gambling Losses Screen

Did you enter a W2-G for the winnings?  I just went though the whole section and wrote down the steps.

The easiest way to get to the W-2G screen is to search for  W2G and it should give you a JUMP TO link to go directly to it.

OR Go to
Federal Taxes
Wages and Income
 Scroll way down to the end - Less Common Income  (show more)
Gambling Winnings - Click the Start or Revisit button and follow the screens

To enter the losses keep going.  After it asks about your winnings and you click DONE  on the Summary Screen then it asks if you have any other gambling winnings not reported on a W2G.  After that screen you can enter the losses.

You can only deduct gambling losses up to the amount of your winnings if you itemize deductions on Schedule A.  Gambling losses go on schedule A line 28 and are not subject to the 2% threshold.

OK I found a better way,  The easiest way to enter gambling losses is to type "gambling losses" in the search box at the top and  it should give you a JUMP TO link to go directly to it.

It will give you a  W2-G Summary screen.  Click on DONE

Then it asks if you have any other gambling winnings not reported on a W2G.  After that screen you can enter the losses.
