Gambling
To enter the W-2G or other documents For your Gambling winnings--Go to Federal>Wages & Income>Less Common Income>Gambling Winnings
You can enter your winnings, and then keep clicking through the interview to enter gambling losses.

Gambling winnings are taxable income. Losses are an itemized deduction. If you do not have enough itemized deductions to exceed your standard deduction, your losses will have no effect.

Since you received a Form 1099-MISC you can enter it as such in the Other Common Income section. When you do that, make sure you indicate that you only received the income in the current year, it was not earned with an intent to make a profit and it is not associated with your job. Otherwise, it will be treated as self-employment income. Those responses will not show up on your return, they are just in TurboTax to assist the program in identifying the nature of the income.
So even though i got it from gambling. I don’t have to go to the gambling tab under less common income since it was received in a 1099-misc. Or would both ways work? Because i’ve seen other experts say to go to the gambling tab so i’m confused.
Either section would work. As long as the income is reported. I would recommend you go through the 1099-MISC section rather than the gambling section since you received Form 1099-MISC.
