Form 1095-A and 8962

I efiled on Valentine’s Day and received this messag b e from Turbo Tax a couple days later.

FDI_8962_DepLine2BEmpty_ErrorHold - Your tax return is on hold pending ongoing updates to interview questions regarding Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.  I’ve chatted with 2 different specialists with Turbo Tax and they said there are updates being made to the 1095-A and that’s why TurboTax rejected my taxes.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes. I don't think it's the IRS. I think TurboTax is guessing at this point. The IRS is rejecting it because they want a value on line 2B on form 8962. TurboTax leaves the line blank if the value is 0. The IRS is rejecting the return (rejected mine twice now) because that field is blank. There is no way for us to correct it other than to print out the return and fill in that line ourselves.

You're right, it's not the IRS. I spoke with them about thirty minutes ago. It is something to do with Turbo Tax.

I don't know yet. After I updated I cant find anywhere to fix the problem. so I refiled it and now just have to waited to see if its accepted or rejected. I just read another person said that turbo tax still cant figure out so they said to print it and enter and mail it in.

You might need to update your dependent income before re-submitting.  Look for this box.

I agree, I wonder whether you will need to enter $0 for your dependents' income even though they are too young to file a tax return?

  • At the screen Let's get the info from your 1095-A form, enter the numbers from the paper form.
  • Click Continue.
  • At the screen Let us know if these situations apply to you, you may need to click on I have at least one dependent on my taxes who's filing a separate return.

I also had my return - be rejected for the same reason.  I waited till this morning and I downloaded the "updates" and nothing changed.  No new questions were asked.. So based on what I could find by others comments, I went to form 8692 and it allowed me to enter a O in the 2b field.  So, I am going to try and re-file them again... 3x the charm right? - I also went onto form 1095-A and filled in line 4,7 5,8,6,9,16,and 17 just in case that missing info had something to do with the rejection.
