Employer Did Not List Dependent Care Benefits in Box 10 of W-2

My W-2 does not show anything in box 10, dependent care benefits, despite the fact that I had funds deducted throughout the year, pre-tax, for this benefit into a dependent care FSA. I work for a small company who uses a third party vendor for Payroll and a different vendor for Dependent Care FSA account management, which I think could be the issue.

When I asked my HR contact about it, they checked with the Payroll company who said "Box1 reflects wages + bonus less your Dependent Care FSA of $XXX.  It’s not coded specifically on the W2, but netted from Box 1.  I checked with another payroll provider and they also don’t code the FSA’s on W2s."

My understanding is that I will need to add the amount withheld in the FSA MANUALLY onto my W-2 when I am filling it out into TurboTax, because it did not pull it over since there was nothing there. Correct? If I don't, I get myself a bigger child care credit than I truly "deserve" as I understand it.

My main question is, is my EMPLOYER in the wrong if this amount is not showing on the box and should I ask them to please call it out specifically in a revised W-2? Or is the onus simply on me to be honest and report the amount myself? Will there be trouble for them down the line that they did not show it on the W2 despite withholding it, and I am manually adding it myself despite it not showing on the W-2? Or do some Payroll companies simply not show it and the employee must have eye out to look and address?

Thanks!

Just do what is correct for you ... in the day care credit section there is a place for the amount paid for thru the FSA account ... just enter it there and not on the W-2 box 10.
