EIC

I filed my taxes back in January through turbo tax. I received a letter from IRS stating I did not add my earned income credit. How is this possible? How can it go through without my earned income credit being entered? I filled out the paperwork they’ve sent me and sent it back March 21,2022 and have yet to hear anything else regarding my taxes. Can someone assist me with this and get some kind of answers.

Thank you,

Latasha Saxton

we can't see what you did so we have no way of knowing why the EIC was omitted.  we have no ability to contact the IRS on your behalf and neither does Turbotax.  either contact the IRS  yourself or hire a tax pro who can represent you.

the IRS phone lines are extremely busy. you might not get through or may be disconnected.  repeated attempts will probably be required.

You say that you filled out "paperwork" and sent it back to the IRS.   If so, then you just have to wait for the IRS to open your envelope and process the paperwork---which will likely take months since they are so backlogged.   We cannot see your tax return so cannot speculate on why the EIC was not entered when you prepared the return.  No one in the user forum can access your account or your tax return,  nor can TurboTax speed the IRS up for you.

@latashasaxton - if you did you taxes through TT, then it should have been automatically applied - assuming you entered everything correctly.

Suggest going through this quick IRS test - it's the same logic they used to determine your eligibility....

does it state you are eligible?
