TT says workers can get this credit even if they don't have children. When I start this section, the first question is if I paid someone to take care of my children. When I answer NO, it says I am not eligible. How do I get this EIC without children?

Yes, it's true that it isn't required to have children to qualify for EIC.  However, if you do not have children, the income limit is lower than if you did have children.  For a single person with no children in 2024, earned income must be less than $18,591.

You are trying to enter the Child and Dependent tax credit, not the EIC.

The EIC is automatically calculated for you by the TurboTax program if you are eligible.  It will be entered on your Form 1040 Line 27.
