Hi,
We donated to the Veterans used clothing, shoes and toys and according to the turbo Tax calculating tool we have $950.00. We only have a list of stuff we donated and a receipt from Veterans saying 4-15 bags of clothing/toys/shoes. I do not have any original purchase receipts when we bought them or pictures. So, my question is should I even hassle claiming this or remove clothing from the list until I’m below $500 since I don’t have the original purchase receipts or pictures.
Thank you for your advice

If the value of your donation is $950, I advise you lower to $500 to avoid the effort to collect the original receipts.
Tax deductions lower your taxable income and they are equal to the percentage of your tax bracket, so the impact of this reduction is extremely minimal.
