When you file married filing jointly, you receive a personal exemption for yourself and your wife and for any dependents you may have listed. You never claim a wife as a dependent, she is a joint filer.

Unless you file married filing separate. Then you only get your own exemption and she gets her own exemption.

My federal taxes got sent by mail, I had signed up with credit karma when filing, which i did receive my state on a card with credit karma.
