My daughter turned 17 on July 27,2019.  Is she eligible for the $2000 child Tax Credit?  Turbo tax is giving us a $500 credit.   In the Help tab it states if the child was under 17 on December 31, 2018 she should be eligible.  Please advise.  Thank you.

You will not get the child tax credit for your daughter on your 2019 tax return, because she turned 17 in 2019.  You can still claim her as your dependent, but the credit is the lower $500 credit for other dependents for 2019.

To qualify, a child must have been under age 17 (i.e. 16 years old or younger) at the end of the tax year for which you claim the credit.  Therefore, she would not qualify on your 2019 tax return.
