Dependent Care Credit Form 2441- incorrect amount

My case is different from the original poster of this question; I am a student with a W2 income of around 27k. My spouse's W2 income was around 65k, she is not a student. We spent approx. 10k on childcare (nothing fancy, just a normal daycare), so we should be getting 20% of that in the credit.

I've read over the IRS instructions for 2441 multiple times now, I'm fairly certain there we are eligible for the full amount. There is likely some obscure reason TurboTax is checking the box claiming I'm a student with no earned income. Again, there is no prompt anywhere that I can find in the CDC credit interview that asks about student status, and I have both W2's completed before I fill it out.

Dependent Care Credit Form 2441- incorrect amount

The child and dependent care interview will ask you about the student (and disabled) status only if you have no earned income. Since we had already entered your W-2s, you would not see this question when you entered the interview. In your case with your high income, you should ignore trying to tell TurboTax that you are a student.

From the sound of it, you should get 20% of $3,000 if you had one child in daycare or 20% of $6,000 if you had two or more. You do not get 20% of everything you spent (a common misconception).

"I'm a student with no earned income" The "no earned income" commonly happens when the taxpayer does not correctly assign each W-2 to each spouse (it's easy to miss this). Please check in the income section.

Also, please make a new and separate post when changing the question - it will make it easier for us to see it and and answer it. Thanks.
