The child and dependent care interview will ask you about the student (and disabled) status only if you have no earned income. Since we had already entered your W-2s, you would not see this question when you entered the interview. In your case with your high income, you should ignore trying to tell TurboTax that you are a student.
From the sound of it, you should get 20% of $3,000 if you had one child in daycare or 20% of $6,000 if you had two or more. You do not get 20% of everything you spent (a common misconception).
"I'm a student with no earned income" The "no earned income" commonly happens when the taxpayer does not correctly assign each W-2 to each spouse (it's easy to miss this). Please check in the income section.
