Child Tax Credit - Infant Born in Dec 2021

When inputing info for the Child Tax Credit, I placed the info it requested for the advanced payment we received for our 3 year old - $1800 (per the IRS mailed form my wife and I received). So we received the additional $1800 remaining as a credit. We had a baby in Dec 2021. It will not allow me to claim him for the Child Tax Credit although he was born in 2021. Any tips or advice on this? Should we be receiving the full $3600 for him since we did not receive advanced payments for him? Or am I missing something. Thank you.

When TurboTax asked how many months the child lived with you, did you select "The whole year"? That's what you have to say for a child that was born during the year.

Thanks for the reply. That fixed it. I guess I was taking the question much too literally as he was only born with three weeks remaining in 2021. Changing this in the information regarding him adjusted that for me. Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it.

If you had a child born in 2021- Add them under My Info. You need to answer 2 questions…..

Did your child live with you for the whole year? Answer YES even if they were born late in the year (even on Dec 31).

Then was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO.
