Last year I received 6 payments of $600. Then as I did my taxes this year on TurboTax I was told I will get the $4200 stimulus. I never got any paperwork or money after the $3600. I have two kids 4&5 and I made $63k filed married but separate. The IRS website says something is wrong with my taxes and I've already received $978 refund from the normal tax stuff. Will I be getting the $4200 or no? Thank you for the response.

If you never received your 3rd stimulus payment, you should have claimed it on your 2021 tax return.

Regarding your child tax credit, you should receive $3,600 in Child Tax Credit since you only received 1/2 of the $7,200 you are entitled to. It has nothing to do with the $1,400 3rd stimulus payment.

To claim the $3,600:

Open or continue your return
In the search box type child tax credit and hit the Enter key. Select the Jump to child tax credit link on top of the search results
Enter the $3,600 advance child credit you already received.

Check your bank record to see if you already received the $4,200. It should be sometime in March or early April last year. If no record, try to get an IRS transcript. If you never received the 3rd stimulus check, amend your 2021 return to claim it.

But before you amend your refund, check if Line 28 has $3,600 and Line 30 has $4,200 on your 1040 tax form.

Do you have an amount on 1040 line 30 for the Recovery rebate credit? Did you not get the 3rd Stimulus payment? Or qualify for more? Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more.

If you claimed a missing stimulus payment on your return but the IRS took it off you have to ask the IRS. They think they already sent it to you. Maybe it went to an account you don't remember. Or you got a check or a card. It was probably easy to miss the debit card in the mail and think it was junk mail. They have to put a trace on it.

Double check your bank statements and Check your IRS account to see when and what they sent you (check both spouse's accounts if married)

Line 28 on 1040 has $3600, line 30 has $4200. On the Credits 8812 attached to 1040 28 and 30 are blank. I dont recall any deposit of 3600 or 4200 into our bank, just the monthly $600 ones. Im checking more info on IRS website, etc.

Line 28 is right. You got the Advance Child Tax Credits monthly and the 3,600 on line 28 is the remaining amount. It just happens to be the same amount that you already got. You got half of it. The amount on line 28 is not the 3,600 you got but the rest of it.

The 4,200 on line 30 you have to follow my post above. The IRS says they already sent it to you.
