If she is a dependent her Standard Deduction can be less.

The 2024 Standard Deduction for an individual for whom an exemption can be claimed on another person's tax return is limited to the greater of:

…..Your unearned income was more than $1,300 or
…..Your earned income for the year + $450 (but not more than 14,600)

So you would get a minimum of $1,300 to a max of 14,600.

See Table 8 Standard Deduction worksheet for Dependents on page 26

For a dependent, their Standard Deduction is limited to the greater of:

  • $1,300
  • Earned income plus $450 (can't be greater than the basic Standard Deduction for their basic Standard Deduction for their filing status).

Review ‌IRS Topic no. 551, Standard Deduction.

Have your dependent review the TurboTax article: How do I indicate that I can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return?
