Can one deduct cost of continuing education required for real estate license renewal. i.e. 30 clock hours are required to renew license every 2 years.
In Washington State, real estate agents need to acquire 30 clock hours of course work related to real estate including some mandatory hours within the 30 hours, that they call CORE curriculum to be allowed to renew their license every 2 years. Are the costs of the courses deductible in the year taken.

Yes, you can deduct the cost of your required education. You could be eligible for a Lifetime Learning Credit.
