the one about the hurricane is the one that I am interested because I made less in 2017 then in 2016, but I do not live in an area affected by a hurricane, so i am confused how to answer this if I have to meet all the areas or if just one of them.

It depends. Your income level (earned income and AGI) must fall within the IRS guidelines for your filing status. These requirements are as follows:

Single, Head of Household, and Qualifying Widower

  • No Children: $15,010
  • One Child: $39617
  • Two Children: $45,007
  • Three or More Children: $48,340

Married Filing Jointly

  • No Children: $20,600
  • One Child: $45,207
  • Two Children: $50,597
  • Three or More Children: $53,930

You must also meet the other requirements for claiming the earned income credit. Please visit the TurboTax link below for more information about these requirements.
