Can I claim the earned income credit if I made less in 2017 then I did in 2016

the one about the hurricane is the one that I am interested because I made less in 2017 then in 2016, but I do not live in an area affected by a hurricane, so i am confused how to answer this if I have to meet all the areas or if just one of them.

It depends. Your income level (earned income and AGI) must fall within the IRS guidelines for your filing status. These requirements are as follows:

Single, Head of Household, and Qualifying Widower

No Children: $15,010
One Child: $39617
Two Children: $45,007
Three or More Children: $48,340

Married Filing Jointly

No Children: $20,600
One Child: $45,207
Two Children: $50,597
Three or More Children: $53,930
