As executor of an estate, I had to sell stock in the estate account for around $5800 but had a net capital loss of $11,000, so will I have to file an estate tax return?

On a final 1041 for the estate, you will be able to pass that loss along to the beneficiaries via their K-1s and they may be able to use their share of that loss against capital gain or other income on their individual income tax returns.
