Are the monthly payments I made for my health insurance coverage considered medical expenses?

Yes.  Unless they came out of your paychecks.  Those are usually deducted pre-tax and you can't deduct those.

I continued with the medical expense part on turbotax and it said insurance premiums do not count if they are part of obamacare. Do you know if this is also true for dental premiums purchased through the marketplace?

If you had health insurance through the Healthcare Marketplace, TurboTax will automatically put the deduction where it needs to be when you enter your 1095-A.  Don't enter it again elsewhere, or it will be double-entered.

Dental premiums are not reported on the 1095-A, so you can report those in the 'usual' place to report them (in the Medical Expenses section, UNLESS you are self employed).
