Are losses due to theft (home burglary) deductible in 2018?

I have seen conflicting answers to my question "are loses due to home burglary that occurred in 2018 and were not covered by insurance deductible".  Please clarify since it was a substantial loss.

Are losses due to theft (home burglary) deductible in 2018?

No.  Casualty and theft losses are no longer deductible on your federal return.  Only casualty losses in a federal disaster area are still deductible, which does not apply to your situation.
